Director, ORIC, The University of Larkano
It is a matter of immense privilege and pride to articulate the significance of the Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC) at The University of Larkano (UoL). ORIC is a source of educational upheaval, inspiration, and establishment of industrial linkages between industries and the university.
Industries of all kinds, including oil and gas, refineries, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, defense production, bioremediations, heavy mechanical industries, and renewable and cleaner energy, are the backbone of boosting economic growth of a country. They play a pivotal role in establishing industrial linkages with universities.
The University of Larkano, established in 2024, offers degree courses in four engineering disciplines, seven degree programs in Agriculture Science, Basic Sciences, Social Sciences, and Computer Sciences. UoL offers undergraduate and graduate programs and will soon start postgraduate studies programs. New postgraduate and PhD programs will be introduced in September 2025 and 2026.
The mission of ORIC is to develop, expand, enhance, and manage the university's research programs, linking research activities directly to educational, social, and economic priorities. ORIC ensures quality research, submits research projects, introduces research culture, and raises the university's stature among the world's best research institutions.
In pursuit of this mission, ORIC guarantees that all research programs and policies reflect the core values of academic freedom, professional integrity, and ethical conduct. ORIC ensures full compliance with all policies, legal requirements, and operational standards of The University of Larkano (UoL) and the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
We keep our faculty informed by disseminating the latest information through emails about internships, scholarship programs, funding, and sponsors. Most of the information is sourced from the HEC Portal.
We are striving to establish a strategic partnership framework agreement with Chinese institutes to leverage CPEC benefits, streamline existing disciplines, facilitate faculty exchange, and open new disciplines in demanding fields.
ORIC endeavors to organize students' conferences at the national level and aims to launch an international conference in the near future. This will facilitate students to enhance their educational skills, gain presentation experience, and foster academia-industry collaborations.
ORIC is determined to achieve the laudable goal of crafting industrial linkages, research culture, and new innovations, winning projects from HEC, Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF), Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF), and Fouji Fertilizer Company, as well as international collaborations with foreign universities (University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka).
Insha'Allah, UoL will lead to a forum of international standards, co-opting all prerequisites to become a leading university in the region and abroad.
